Biogarden Trickle Valve – 1 1/4-Inch
Trickle Valve with adjustable weir opening at the bottom that can be turned to an off position to allow the bed to fill completely and overflow openings at the top of the valve. The valve is normally partially open to allow the bed to remain partially filled while the pump is filling the bed through the perforated irrigation line. Once pumped flow ceases to the bed the partially open valves ensures that each bed drain within a few minutes. As draining proceeds the bed will be purged of carbon dioxide and filled rapidly with atmospheric oxygen to promote root growth. The 1 ¼ -inch drains from each bed discharge to the polyculture fish tank below the table. This unique feed and drainage system eliminates the need for any, siphons, automatic solenoid valves, etc. which can plug or shut down due to power or mechanical failure.
This is a full set including two stand pipes at either 6 or 7″ total height from the bottom of the tank. While it is possible to use this as a single fill and drain unit, we sell as a set because the extra stand pipe reduces the risk of debris getting stuck in the top of the drain and water overflowing. When using one stand pipe as a line to bring water in from a lower tank, the drain line is somewhat limited also. This makes it practical to use two Trickle Valves instead of one for any table setup.
Options are for a 5″, 6″ or 7″ height. With a 9″ deep trough we typically recommend 6″. The pipe may be cut to shorter lengths if preferred.
